It’s boring. And frustrating. You’re hot and sweaty and your shoes are pinching. All the other queues are moving faster. I thought this was meant to be fast food – and where’s my instant coffee?
God however, doesn’t agree. In fact, He seems to think that waiting is a Very Good idea.
‘Wait for the Lord; Be strong, and let your heart take courage’;
(and just in case we haven’t yet got it)..
‘Yes, wait for the Lord’. Psalm 27:14.
That’s easy to say. The question is, what are we waiting for?
– a change in the weather?
– a job?
– test results?
– a husband?
Are we waiting in vain: for someone or something who will never come?
– Or are we waiting expectantly and with hope – for a prize we have been promised?
And as we wait, what are we doing?
– panicking – or resting?
– trusting – or despairing?
– relying on our own strength – or looking to His?
My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken (Ps. 62:1-2)
