When you’re in pieces
know that God is here – with you – and He is holding them. In fact, there’s a good chance he allowed the breaking.
It hurts; but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. You’re dying to what you were; and maybe what you want to be. But amidst the chaos, something new is forming. Something beautiful, that nothing can break.
There’s a kind of breaking that’s demanded of all of us. A scattering; so that we can be gathered. A scattering, so that we can be sown. Thrust out of our comfort zone, we take root. We multiply and yield and flourish and bless.
Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. (John 12:24)
There’s darkness in the dying. But also light; enough light to live by. Light that only shines through the bits that are cracked.
So if you know this brokenness, don’t despise it. Don’t deny it or excuse it or try to cover it up. Sit with it. What if you were not afraid? What if you could stop pretending? What if you knew that everything would be ok?
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Is 41:10)
Allow yourself to break. God is making you beautiful.
